2 Jun(re-posted from original release)
Local favorite Suzanne Burns–author of MISFITS AND OTHER HEROES and the newly released chapbook THE WIDOW–will read with Kentucky native and now Portland-resident Tommy Gaffney. Also reading will be Bend residents Cassie Moore and Jonathan Ludwig (who is a fabulous Camalli employee). Join us for an evening of good writing, good company and cheap complimentary refreshments.
Gaffney was born and raised in Kentucky, somewhere between the projects and the trailer parks. In addition to WHISKEY DAYS, he is the author of THREE BEERS FROM OBLIVION (2006). His work has appeared in such anthologies as The Night Bomb Review, The Drunk Poets Society Anthology; Volume 2 and The Broken Word Anthology; Volumes 1 & 2. He has performed at the Insomniacathon, Wordstock, appeared on KBOO radio, and hosted the annual Artists Night Out Spoken Word Festival at Artists Repertory Theater.
Burns’s first poetry collection, BLIGHT, debuted from Archer Books in 2001, and she has released a steady stream of innovative work since that time. Her poetry collection, THE FLESH PROCESSION, was released in 2005 and was a Foreword Magazine Book of the Year Finalist in the Poetry Category. Other work includes THE DREAM TREE and DOUBLE HEADER, plus her most recent poetry chapbook, THE WIDOW. Her short-story collection, MISFITS AND OTHER HEROES, was published by Dzanc Books in 2009. She has performed her work at Wordstock in Portland. Burns is currently working on a novel. She lives and writes from Bend, Oregon.
